Message to Parents

Hi Parents, I’m Alyx — Dylan’s mum. Welcome to her site!

Lilly’s Bookshelf was born from my daughter’s deep love for books and storytelling. She began recognising words at 6–7 months old, and now, at 11 years old, Dylan reads thousands of pages each month.

Her love for reading has given her:

  • A strong sense of independence

  • The ability to research and learn proactively

  • An expansive vocabulary

  • The confidence to manage her homework independently

  • The creative freedom to explore new ideas boldly

  • And the opportunity to build friendships with other children who share her love of reading

Dylan is also partially deaf, and immersing herself in books has been incredibly powerful — not only for expanding her vocabulary, but also for strengthening her speech development and building her confidence in public speaking.

In addition to reading, Dylan has learnt to update and manage her website herself, under our guidance. She is very proud of this new skill and is determined to update her reading lists and projects daily.

She has also started creating handmade items for fellow reading enthusiasts — including bookmarks, posters, and small book-themed gifts — all designed with care and available in her store.

As her parents, we wanted to create a safe and inspiring space to capture this wonderful journey — not just for ourselves, but for other children (and parents) who love reading too.

Everything here is designed to be:

  • Kid-friendly and safe

  • Creative and uplifting

  • Built with care and love

We believe strongly in encouraging imagination, passion, and the power of words.
This little bookshelf is a space where Dylan can celebrate those values — and where we hope other young readers will feel inspired too.

Thank you for stopping by — we’re so happy to share this adventure with you. If you want to connect as parents, to exchange notes, recommend books or ask any questions, please feel free to send us an email - parents@lillysbookshelf.com.

With love,
Ally
